Why does GTA 5 make such a basic movement option feel so situational? Pressing the crouch input is easy, but knowing when to use it is the part that saves a stealth approach from turning into a messy firefight. Even if you buy GTA 5 Money to speed up an Online loadout, crouching won't replace positioning, patience, or a solid escape route. It's a small tool, not a magic invisibility switch.

The controls are simple

While on foot, press Left Ctrl on PC to enter the low stealth stance. On PlayStation, click L3; on Xbox, click the left stick. Press the same input again to stand normally. GTA 5 can ignore that input near vehicles, ladders, doors, mission prompts, and other context actions, so take a couple of steps away before assuming something is wrong.

Crouching versus cover

This is the mistake I see most often in GTA 5: players crouch in open space and expect the same protection they'd get by snapping to a wall. Crouching lowers your profile and changes your movement pace; cover attaches you to an object and lets you peek, aim, and break enemy sightlines. Laser rooms need a different rhythm

Some GTA Online heist-style areas use moving laser patterns that make crouching matter far more than it does in a normal shootout. Don't stay low from the moment you enter. Watch which beam is actually approaching, wait for the safe lane, then duck only when a horizontal beam needs to pass overhead. What GTA 5 does not give you
