I've been saving money a couple of years to buy an old flat fender jeep but finally talked myself out of it, went a different route and decided to get more flyfishing time in.  I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of G3 waders today but didn't feel like throwing money at boots yet.  I've got an old pair of Weinbrenners but new boots are appealing.  I only found 2 posts in here going back to 2010 regarding wading boots.

I've always worn felt soles with studs.  Any recommendations of new stuff for a once very aggressive wader that should be old enough to know better?

An order for a little RDP in 0wt or 1 wt should go out on monday...my new steelhead rod  ;)

I second Korkers with the Boa tightening system - so fast on/off.  You can then vary the soles according to the substrate. Alumabars are great for slick rock - the best traction I have ever experienced.  Just don't use them in a drift boat where you are most likely to step on your fly line - instant scissor action!

Thank you for the responses.

I'm guessing the tab on the heel of the boot that captures the sole is the retention method? Are their any durability concerns regarding that tab, or ever any issues with the sole coming off while wading? The boot and stitching hold up well?

I did notice that they have in field repair/replacements for the boa system. How are sizing? I wear a 10 1/2 tennie runner and my current boots are a size 12 to accommodate waders. My G3 waders are backordered until the 9th now :(

No durability concerns so far.... Seems well engineered.  I think this is their 3rd generation of the system and is improved over prior iterations.  The size runs ~ true.  Likely you would need an 11 but check out their site to confirm.  Better yet, try/ buy from Kienes!

OK, looks like I'll give them a shot. I bought the G3's from Kienes. The funny thing is I hadn't been in their store since they moved from the other building. It had been awhile guess I'll make another trip up. Thanks for the input.

I sliced a couple fingers on a sharp piece of metal 3 weeks ago. Stitches came out a few days ago but it's going to be a few more weeks before I can really use them and do a little fishing. I'm on a jeep run next weekend and might give it a shot but real leary of snagging a flap of skin and tearing something open.
